Restaurant News: Almondito is Finito

Almondito is Closing
Picture: Sad days: Almondito is closing up shop. Good news: They're opening up a new, Italian restaurant in the space.

We didn't want to believe the news when we—we'll admit it—overheard it by eavesdropping at a bar last week. But then a report in the East Hampton Star confirmed it: Almondito is shutting down. Sad news. Not as sad as if Almond was closing down, but still sad.

Owner Eric Lemonides has decided to lose the Mexican and go Northern Italian and they be opening Almoncello at the Wainscott location. (Interesting location, seeing as how it's just across the street from the incumbent Italian, Saracen.) We're going to make a grand pronouncement and say that the place is going to be great. The only question that remains: What about karaoke on Saturday night?

Eric Lemonides, co-owner of Almond and Almondito, closed the latter but fear not, the doors will soon reopen- only this time with a Northern Italian flair. Almoncello promises to keep the tradition of these great restaurants alive with amazing food and drinks.
