Guild Hall Director Ruth Appelhof is our choice for the first individual of the Plum 98: those who have made a difference in this community. She oversees an East End artistic bastion, proving the arts can flourish a hundred miles from Manhattan. The works of Pollack and Warhol have hung on these walls. The John Drew Theatre in Guild Hall has staged writers from the Bard to Mamet. Striking a balance between the old and the modern, Ms. Appelhof has successfully steered this integral source of culture.


What is Plum 98? It’s a collection of 98 individuals (a nice, round number) who have etched a mark in the Hamptons community with positive energy and vision. I ordered six tickets to Aug. 16 th performance of Steve Martin's play. However, after ordering them, I have tried to call your numbers; 324 4050 AND 3240806 day and night and have not been able to get through. All we get is a recording that says; "Your call is being transferred." Then there it rings an extension, where the same recording says"Your call is being transferred..." This goes on and on......... We made a mistake and needed only 4 tickets for that evening. We wanted the other two for another night. We have tried endlessly to contact you. Unfortunately, we are over an hour away, so cannot "drop by". We wonder how anyone can order tickets over the phone or get information about this wonderful play?? Please call my cell: 495-9024 a.s.a.p. as we have still not gotten through to change these tickets. Thankyou, V. McCarthy
